Ashraf is a partner in Kawkab Entertainment, a Saudi entertainment company specializing in the financing and distribution of premium content from Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East & North Africa. Ashraf is also partner in the Planet Studios, based in Cairo, an original content studio producing premium content for regional and global streaming platforms and televisions, including Shahid (MBC Group), Discovery Networks & OSN amongst others, and is currently leading the development of several projects that aim to capitalize on the burgeoning investment opportunities in the Media & Entertainment industry in the Middle East & North Africa Region. Ashraf has advised several key government entities in the GCC, key senior government officials, and several senior corporate executives from leading regional corporations, on strategic projects in the Technology, Media and Entertainment industry. In addition, Ashraf is currently advising several leading global and regional Media, and Technology corporations on opportunities in the region. In his most recent corporate position, Ashraf was the first director of Public Policy for the Middle East, Turkey & Africa at Netflix Inc, and he established the Public Policy Function for Netflix in its biggest emerging region and lead the engagement with Public and Regulatory authorities in a most challenging and dynamic region. In the period between his work with Netflix and Meta, Ashraf advised a number regional and global corporations in the technology, media, and Investment sectors including Mubadala, and Emaar, and he represented the interests of several clients in the technology sector, with government entities in the Middle East & North Africa region. Prior to that, Ashraf served as the Head of Public Policy for Middle East & North Africa at Meta Inc., formerly Facebook. During his tenure with Meta, he led the company’s public policy work in the region, representing the Meta family of apps including Facebook, Facebook messenger, Instagram, & WhatsApp, on a broad range of issues including Government Relations, Freedom of Expression Online, Privacy, Data Protection, Regulatory Affairs, and digital public diplomacy. Before joining Meta, Ashraf worked in senior positions in Government Affairs and Strategic Communications with leading regional corporations in the Middle East and North Africa, including Aramex and Arabtec Holding, and he held senior positions with the Governments of Jordan and Emirate of Dubai in several capacities including Special Aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, Assistant Director of Government performance Directorate at the Prime Ministry of Jordan, and Director of Special Projects at the Executive Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
